Ronan Point
Ronan
Point was a tower block in Canning Town, typical of the kind of cheap
and quickly raised housing constructed in the 60s. On 15 May 1968 a gas
explosion in one of the flats killed four people and left many more
injured and homeless. My piece features retuned strings, field
recordings from the site and surrounding area, drones and processed
sounds to reflect on an event that was a traumatic and transformative
episode in the history of architecture, social housing and the
relationship between society and environment.
